Chris: Unfortunately the last 18 years have tainted Michael Jackson's legacy, but like him or not, the guy was a brilliant musician & songwriter. Its a sad day.
Emily: Are you serious? Yeah, he was a great musician, but there are PLENTY of other GREAT musicians who we can hold in high esteem and who didn't molest children. Michael Jackson's death has been far overdue.
Chris: I just feel to judge him on allegations from the last 18 years of his 42 year or so career is unjust and short-sighted. Yeah he may or may not have been a creeper, but as a musician, he was amazing, and inspiring and just a flat out genius.
Emily: I can definitely see where you're coming from, but, sadly, Michael Jackson royally fucked up his life in his latter years. The thing that sucks is that his father is more than likely the cause of MJ's screwed up life. BUT there are plenty of other people in the world who died today. Why does Michael Jackson deserve any special treatment? I guess, overall, it's just a pet peeve that people hold celebrities on such high pedestals.
Chris: I hold him up there because of his musical talent and musical success. He's sold more records than any other artist. I think you and I can't truly grasp the "Jacko-mania" people went through in the 70s and 80s because we weren't alive for it. Today I mourn the death of the artist I knew in 1990, and that man deserves this kind of attention.
